In 1943, during the Second World War, Herrenhausen Castle was bombed and destroyed. The reconstruction of the historical complex began with the laying of the first stone in June 2011. The Volkswagen Foundation initiated the reconstruction of the former summer residence of the Welfens.

As a result of the modern reconstruction of the old external façade, the classical design elements of the façade also had to be thermally separated in accordance with current structural regulations. H-BAU Technik supplied more than 600 m of special ISOMAXX® thermal insulation elements for this purpose.
